FAQ

More about what we do

HOW IS ATHENA TECH DIFFERENT FROM OTHER CHARITIES AND PROJECTS?

While there are programs that aim to make technology more accessible to students, they generally only donate these devices to people in need. Our project, on the other hand, creates spaces where entire communities can come together and more than one person can take advantage of a device. Our project also ensures that these spaces have internet access, which would not be possible if the devices were given to individuals.

Finally, our project is highly scalable, can be implemented in multiple locations and does not depend on donations from specific companies. Also, as the Pods are being created, we intend to create a distributed network of Learning Pods, where anyone who wants to can create their own Pod, with our approval, accelerating the expansion of the initiative.

IF YOU HAD ALL THE FUNDING, CONNECTIONS AND RESOURCES YOU CAN REQUEST, WHAT WOULD YOUR PROJECT BE?

As long as we had everything needed for our project to thrive, there would be spaces across Brazil with many computers and tablets where students could go to learn, do research, take online courses and even mobilize their community, or the whole world , working towards a common goal. These public spaces would be close to as many underprivileged people as possible, thus ensuring that all citizens have access to technology, which is critical to helping students obtain a quality education and change the world and the communities in which they live.

HOW WOULD DONATIONS (AND INVESTMENTS) BE USED?

Donations will be used primarily to pay for transportation of donated devices.  and to cover the costs of installing new spaces, as well as marketing expenses. We also plan to keep this website online and advertise our project to potential donors and communities and institutions in need. As non-profit discounts will be negotiated with service providers, our project will not be expensive, which means that we can build a lot of spaces. As the project grows, donations, grantee contributions and partnerships will cover the organization's low running costs.
